2024 APCDA Award Nomination Process

Nominations are open for the Outstanding Career Practitioner AwardOutstanding Educator of Career Professionals Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award.  Self-nominations are welcome.  Nominees may be any career development professional who has continually exhibited outstanding effort to improving career development and can inspire our APCDA community members by their innovative ways of delivering theory-based and research-driven career development services.  However, the person submitting the nomination must be an APCDA member.

Outstanding Career Practitioner Award

To recognize practicing career counselors or consultants for outstanding performance in day-to-day service to others. Nominations should mention:

  1. Quality of service: May have implemented innovative programs, received recognition by local organizations, published in the field, etc.
  2. Service to the profession: indicated by participation and leadership in professional associations at the local, national levels, or international levels

To be eligible, nominee must have 5 years of more of career development service in education, business and industry, and/or private practice

Outstanding Educator of Career Professionals Award

To recognize professors, instructors, and teachers who have devoted their lives to the development of other professionals in the career development field.  Nominations should mention:

  1. Quality of service: May have implemented innovative programs, received recognition by local organizations, published in the field, etc.

2. Service to the profession: indicated by participation and leadership in professional associations at the local, national levels, or international levels

Lifetime Achievement Award

To recognize those who have spent a lifetime contributing to the career development field. Areas of contribution could include:

  • Educating and/or mentoring other professions in the field of career development

  • Developing, or leading others in the development of, exemplary career programs

  • Advocating to inform and persuade policy makers about career development or conducting significant research in the field

  • To be eligible, nominee must have 25 years or more of contribution in the field

  • Submit two letters of recommendation from professional colleagues or mentors.
