    Dr Roberta Neault presented an interesting APCDA webinar on "10 Key Concepts Foundational to Our Work". It was both refreshing and enriching! Dr. Neault encapsulated the main themes in classic career development theories by Super, Holland, etc, and wove them with current thinking/theories in career development, to provide a meaningful foundation for practicing career professionals. The importance of "employee engagement" and being "hope-centered" and "career responsive" was also discussed. The webinar further reminded the participants of culture and its complexity and how our respective cultures and environments need to be considered as we incorporate Dr. Neault’s concepts into practice.

    I personally look forward to more webinars by APCDA!

    At the National Career Development Association (NCDA) Conference July 8-10, APCDA congratulated NCDA on reaching its 100th anniversary.  Click here to see APCDA's letter to NCDA.

    NCDA had a wonderful conference full of valuable presentations and celebrations of its past.  Perhaps one of the best presentations was made by Dr. Mark Savickas who summarized the development of career counseling over the past 100 years.

    APCDA also held its Annual Meeting at NCDA with about 40 people in attendance.  We agreed to adopt bylaws changes and discussed many ideas for keeping in touch between conferences.  Watch your email box for news about these ideas.

    The NBCC Foundation is pleased to announce the second round of Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) scholarships, available to:
    • U.S. GCDF credential holders pursuing a career in professional counseling;
    • International GCDF credential holders enrolled in a counseling program; and
    • International students currently enrolled in both a GCDF training program and a postbachelor’s counseling program.

    The goal of this scholarship program is to increase the number of available professional counselors providing quality career development services as a part of their practice. In doing so, the GCDF scholarship program plays an important role in the Foundation’s mission to leverage the power of counseling by strategically focusing resources for positive change.

    • International applicants must either hold an active GCDF credential in good standing and be enrolled in an advanced education program in counseling, orbe a student currently enrolled in both a GCDF training program and a postbachelor’s counseling program, as appropriate to their country.

    For more information about the GCDF scholarships or to apply, please visit www.nbccf.org/gcdf. The application deadline is July 31, 2013. For more information about the GCDF program, please visit www.cce-global.org/GCDF.

    The NBCC Foundation thanks the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE), a Platinum Sponsor, for its support of Foundation programs.
